Katie and Lindsay grew up riding together, under the guidance of Liz Place. Because of their similar background in Western events, they have similar teaching styles. Katie is a great instrutor for those who really want to work on their western riding skills and progress in that discipline. Katie also works at nearby Rawhide Ranch, an overnight kids camp in Bonsall. Due to her work schedule at Rawhide, she is only available to teach for Silver Spur 1-2 days per week.
Hunter works for us 5-6 days per week exercising and caring for all of our horses (both lesson horses and show horses). She also teaches lessons a couple times per week and fills in for our other instructors when they aren't available for their usual lessons. Hunter comes from a background of western riding and gymkhana events and has been riding and teaching children at Rawhide Ranch for several years.
Lisa is our most seasoned instructor, she previously owned a very successful riding school and retired from managing that program several years back. She couldn't stay away from teaching for long though and began working for Silver Spur in 2015. Students just adore her gentle teaching style and great attention to detail. Lisa comes from a background of English and Dressage riding with decades of experience riding and showing horses.
Meet Our Instructors
Lauren has extensive experience in both English and Western disciplines and has an incredible amount of knowledge to share with her students. Currently Lauren is enjoying competing in 3 Day Eventing and bringing her own young horse through the ranks. She has a fun and engaging teaching style and students love to learn from her. Currently Lauren is working weekends and occasional weekday afternoons.
Geneva comes from an extensive background of cross country and jumping, coaching and competing both in the US and Europe. She is a very energetic instructor and her passion is clear to anyone that is around her. Our students love her positive and outgoing teaching style, not to mention she forms close bonds with most of her students.
Lindsay is the lead instructor and manager of Silver Spur Riding School. She and Liz Place founded the school in 2014 with hopes of creating a program to introduce people to the world of horses. Lindsay has over 20 years riding and showing experience and over 10 years teaching experience. She has coached riders through their first ride up to the top level of competition. Most recently, Lindsay was the 2011 AQHA World Champion and in 2014 placed 3rd at the AQHA World Championships with her self-trained horses. Lindsay loves working with kids and seeing their progress over the years.
