Rhett has been in our program since he was 4 years old. He was top ten in the World as a youngster! His gentle demeanor and smooth gaits make him a great choice for all level riders. Rhett is a perfect gentleman to be groomed and loves any attention he can get. He does have a tendency to be lazy though! Rhett unfortunately sustained an fairly serious injury to one of his legs in October 2016. He is expected to make a full recovery, but likely won't be back to work until Fall 2017.
Artie is our most accomplished horse in the show ring, with multiple national and world titles to his name. In fact, he still holds many national records on the show circuit! Artie is a big, beautiful horse with a springy trot and lovely canter. He excels in both English and Western disciplines. On the ground, Artie loves to snuggle and give kisses!
Atlas is our youngest horse and quite possibly one of the cutest! He is short and stocky guy with plenty of personality. Atlas is our "jack of all trades" and can go from working in the toughest advanced lesson and minutes later tone it down and carefully take a little kid for their first ride. He comes from a background of reining training and belongs to Quinn Girard, one of our teenage students, who also regularly competes with him at AQHA ranked shows.
Fancy is one of our go-to beginner horses. She is beautiful to look at, with one blue eye and one brown eye. Fancy is smooth as glass and is easy to get going for little legs. She loves being brushed and is always trying to listen to her riders' cues, even if they may be unclear. Fancy's one downfall is she gets very excited at the lope, so we only let experienced riders lope on her.
Scottie is an icon in our barn, she is the matriarch of the family and knows it. She has been with us since she was 5 and is a retired World Champion - she isn't going anywhere and will live the rest of her life with us! Because of her age we limit her lessons to young children and light rides. She is just the sweetest horse and loves a good belly scratch!
Sophie is our newest addition and has been such a great asset our program! She is a petite mare who barely even counts as "horse-sized" but don't let her size fool you... She is spunky and a blast to ride. She has super smooth gaits and is very responsive to the riders' aids. She is best suited for advanced beginners and up, just because she is more on the sensitive side. Sophie also has the prettiest face and a gorgeous light palomino color!
Clyde is one of our biggest (and goofiest) horses. Don't let his size fool you, he is a gentle giant and full of personality. Clyde comes from a show background in just about every event, with his extensive training Clyde makes for a great horse to learn more advanced moves on. He has very smooth gaits and is easy to get going - once he knows you mean business. Due to his size we recommend riders over the age of 8 for this guy.
Blue is a gorgeous mare with a personality to boot! She has some some cute quirks that are very endearing and charming. She is slow and steady for her riders, but she will make sure the rider cues properly. Blue is great on the ground and easy to get along with too. Her color is striking and unlike any other horse on our ranch, which is where she gets her name from. Blue belongs to one of our long-time teenage students.
Bella is a horse that we bred and raised, she was also a top ranked show horse with many world and national titles. She is one of our most gentle natured horses and is always up for a ride. She is great for both beginner riders and more advanced riders because of her high level of training and quiet demeanor. Bella is great on the ground and easy for anyone to lead and handle.
Chip is a wonderful addition to our Silver Spur family, he is mellow and easy going which makes him an ideal mount for our riders to learn any technique. Chip has some of the smoothest gaits to ride! He is owned by one of our teenage students who rides frequently, so we only use Chip three days per week.
Derby is a retired jumping horse and another one of the larger horses. He is quirky and funny on the ground, and is always up for a good snuggle. Under saddle, Derby is forward moving and requires at least a strong intermediate rider due to his springy gaits. He is a favorite among our older students!
Sabrina is a sweet, yet sometimes feisty, mare who is as sweet as she is pretty. She absolutely loves kids and is a very smooth ride when you're on her back. She has extensive show experience in various events and is a great horse to learn on. She is mellow and easy going on the ground, although she does have a couple of skin allergies so we have to be careful with any products we use on her skin.
Kosmo is one of those "perfect unicorn" horses. He is great for any level rider, whether it's their first ride or they've ridden hundreds of times. He also comes from an extensive Western showing background with a nearby trainer. His gaits are comfortable and he is gentle to handle on the ground. He can also be lazy though, so we recommend spurs!
Pepper is another great beginner horse! He has been in our program for over 25 years and will live out the rest of his years with us. He was another successful show horse and actually belonged to Lindsay (head instructor) when she was a young child! He is as gentle as they come, great for the young riders and for those learning how to lope. Pepper is missing several of his teeth and has strict diet restrictions because of this, so please check with an instructor before feeding him.
