PVRA Fun Show
We are excited to bring several of our students to the Valentines Fun Show and compete in various rail classes. We will also be staying for the costume contest!
Silver Spur Riding School
Silver Spur Riding School is a perfect place for you and/or your child to learn the intricacies of riding horses and everything else that goes along with proper horsemanship. Our horses are reliable, safe and easy mounts to learn on. The instructors have many years of experience handling horses, teaching and working with riders of all ages/experience levels. The facility is a 10+ acre ranch with several large arenas to ride in. With year-round temperatures averaging in the 70's, it's hard not to love riding at such a picturesque facility. We teach 6 days a week (Tuesday-Sunday), weekdays from 1pm until Sunset and Weekends from 9am until 4pm.
At Silver Spur, we emphasize safe and correct handling of the horse from the ground up. You will learn everything from haltering and grooming your horse to the fine details of riding. Safety is our top priority, and to ensure that we spend extra time the first few lessons teaching you all the proper techniques both on the ground and in the saddle.
We have both English and Western equipment available and our horses are very well trained in both disciplines. All of the horses you will ride are registered Quarter Horses or Paint Horses, breeds known for their calm disposition and forgiving nature. Most of our horses have been in our care since they were very young, so our instructors know them inside and out. Because of their background as nationally ranked show horses, every horse you ride is finely trained. This allows you to focus on becoming a better rider, rather than correcting the horse's mistakes constantly. Read more about our wonderful horses here!

Silver Spur Riding School was founded in 2014 by Lindsay LaPlante and Liz Place. They wanted to create a program focused on introducing children and adults to the world of horses. Our program is based out of Sunset Horse Ranch and situated on 10 beautiful acres in Carmel Valley (Five minutes east of Del Mar). We offer riding lessons for all ages and skill levels, day camps for kids, as well as birthday parties, girl scout programs and other events. We have a team of gentle, well-trained horses for you to ride and our instructors encourage independence, safety, and above all a fun environment to learn about these wonderful animals.
